April Brain Dump
April has exhausted me.
This was an eventful month, largely due to me putting my notice in at my current role to move elsewhere.
I attempted to book my last week off and didn’t manage to get it off, so whilst I am grateful for having wrapped things up yesterday, I start a brand new role come tomorrow.
I am excited but also somewhat exhausted from what has been a stressful month given the fact I had to complete hand-over plus I had a lot of work to complete on existing projects anyway.
Nonetheless, I’m grateful for having completed 6 months at the UK’s largest exam board even though it did come with a host of challenges.
Being a sole designer in a team at any organisation is difficult; let alone a large organisation with an established design system. Change is difficult and attempting to enact change is daunting, to say the least. However, I do think that with seniority I’ll feel more confident voicing my ideas and opinions.
Outside of work, there’s not a lot to report aside from buying a new mechanical keyboard, unfortunately getting fluffier and losing touch with most, if not all, of my hobbies due to burn-out.
On a lighter note, calorie deficit has recommenced, I’m focusing on increasing my water intake and I think soon I’ll begin learning to code again.
I also think a holiday is overdue and I’m most likely booking a solo trip soon and another trip come September.
Moral of the story: Book days off regularly
