Betting on Myself + Going Self-Employed

It’s been a while since I last wrote on Medium but I decided this year to post more content on every platform so here we are; plus I’d like to document this pursuit in particular.

My most recent perm role came to an end the other week and since then I’ve been semi-funemployed; I say semi-funemployed because I began a contract last December and have been freelancing on and off ever since I first had an interest in design at all.

After a number of events including but not limited to the ending of my most recent perm role I decided to delve more into freelancing.

The first main hurdle I encountered here was client acquisition; I don’t particularly enjoy posting content online and if I’m honest; sending out cold emails sounded awful. However, after having a quick call with a successful freelancer I know and talking to a few friends I devised a client acquisition strategy and an overall plan to get more outreach with my work, traffic towards my website and generate leads via reaching out to companies or founders. This week I’ll be executing this plan.

As of right now I would still like to be in a perm role for piece of mind because of cozzy livs but nonetheless this will be a fun experiment.
